ANNOUNCEMENT OF INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR

The Rectory of Pro Deo State University has the pleasure of announcing and of inviting all those who may be interested to participate, the next International Practical Seminar in Microsurgery of Vessels and Nerves will be held during October 17-20, 2012 in Timisoara, Romania.

This seminar is organized by and at the Pius Branzeu Center for Laparoscopic Surgery and Microsurgery under the auspices of the Victor Babes University of Medicine and Pharmacy Timisoara and the Romanian Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery (www.srmr.org) and the Faculty of Medicine and Medical Sciences of the Pro-Deo State University.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE SEMINAR

DURATION OF THE SEMINAR - This is a three and a half days Seminar.

STRUCTURE OF THE SEMINAR - Each day, the early mornings are spent with lectures about microsurgical techniques with particular interest to clinical use. After practical instruction has been given at the microscope, about microinstruments and suture handling techniques, the course provides a total of 32 hours for evaluating all types of anastomosis techniques in live animal models (Sprague-Dawley rats).

PROGRAM OF THE SEMINAR AT A GLANCE-

1st day Morning: Suture techniques on latex; Evening: Suture techniques on femoral vessels in a chicken leg model;

2nd day Morning: Artery end-to-end; Evening: Vein end-to-end

3rd day Morning: Vein graft; Evening: Artery end-to-side

4th day Morning: Nerve suturing techniques (e.g. epi-perineural, interfascicular, nerve grafts) on the sciatic nerve in a chicken leg model.

WHO CAN ATTEND THE SEMINAR-

Beside Surgeons that can apply these skills in the operating room, any MD or biologist, pharmacologist, immunologist etc. may attend, since microsurgery represents an important tool for experimental studies.

TEACHING AND SCIENTIFIC STAFF OF THE SEMINAR

The team that is organizing the course, is headed by Prof. Dr. Mihai Ionac, Phd, MD, Director of the Faculty of Medicine and Medical Sciences of Pro Deo State University, Head of the Division of Vascular Surgery and Microsurgery of the Victor Babes University of Medicine and Pharmacy / Clinic of Vascular Surgery of the Emergency County Hospital Timisoara - Romania, www.chirurgievasculara.ro assisted by his colleague the Assoc. prof. Lucian Jiga, PhD, MD, and one or two foreign experts in clinical microsurgery or in teaching, will be invited to the teaching staff.

CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE

An University Diploma and a written confirmation for tax purposes will be distributed to all participants. The participants coming from Pro Deo State University will also receive the Diploma of this University in addition to the Diploma issued by the host Victor Babes University of Medicine and Pharmacy

CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION (CME)

The Seminars are accredited by the Romanian College of Physicians with 30 CME credits and by the Pro Deo State University with the same amount of Credits Successful evaluation leads to a "University Diploma in Microsurgery" awarded by the Victor Babes University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Timisoara

RECOGNITION AND ACCREDITATION OF THE SEMINAR

The International Practical Seminar in Microsurgery of Vessels and Nerves has the official recognition of several authorities:

1. Is integrated in the National Training Program in Microsurgery of the Romanian Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery (RSRM).

2. Is officially accredited by the

TOTAL SEMINAR FEE

The total Fee of the Seminar is of 690 Euros to be paid as follows: initial deposit of 200 Euros, followed by the balance of 490 Euros to be paid on site.

Payment should be made by one of the following methods

1) Bank transfer to Romanian Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, UniCredit Tiriac Bank Timisoara, Account IBAN RO75 BACX 0000 0030 0856 6002, SWIFT CODE – BACX ROBU. Please note that by bank transfer 20 to 40 Euros can be required by the bank as charges!

2) Cheque made payable to UniCredit Tiriac Bank Timisoara, 3 Carol Telbisz St., RO-300001 Timisoara. Account holder SRMR.

THE SEMINAR FEE INCLUDES:

Besides the materials used at the Seminar the fee also includes the seminar kit (program, official photo and the CD of the seminar), 4 nights accommodation in a 3* hotel in the immediate vicinity of our centre, three sandwich lunches and the official dinner.

IMPORTANT

The course is filled on a first come first served basis, with a limited number of participants per course. Placement on this course will only be considered upon receipt of the initial deposit of 200 Euros. Upon receipt of the according fee, participants will be officially registered and a payment confirmation will be forwarded to the registrant. In order to speed up the reservation process, as soon as you have sent the prepayment fee, please send us (at the seminar secretariat) per fax, or on my personal email, the bank transfer document. As soon as we receive this document, you will receive a “reservation-confirmation” email.
